Medtronic Leads

|
Medtronic
has taken many of their Sprint Fidelis® defibrillator leads off the market.
These leads have fractured which can result in the defibrillators delivering
unnecessary shocks. The lead fractures have been linked to the death of five
individuals. Medtronic manufactured more than 235,000 of these leads in the
United States. Medtronic has asked that all of the leads that have not been
implanted be returned to Medtronic. They have also advised doctors to contact
their patients who have these leads implanted in them. The recalled devices
are:
-
Sprint Fidelis® 6930
-
Sprint Fidelis® 6948
-
Sprint Fidelis® 6949
-
Sprint Fidelis® 6931

FAQS
What is a lead?
A pacemaker has three parts: the defibrillator, leads,
and programmer. The leads are insulated wires that measure the function of
the heart and deliver the therapy when required.
How dangerous are fractured leads?
Very. Fractured leads can cause the defibrillator to
deliver unnecessary shocks or even prevent the defibrillator form working. A
defibrillator when working is an amazing life-saving device, however if just
one component is off that device can become life-threatening. The leads are
integral part of the system and as such their fracturing can result in
devastating consequences.
How do I know if my leads are safe?
Look at your most recent defibrillator wallet card, if
the leads are Medtronic Sprint Fidelis®
leads and the first four number start with 6930, 6948, 6949, or 6931 your
leads are at risk.
Should I have my leads removed?
This is a decision only you and your doctor can
make, there are many risks involved in taking out the leads. You and your
doctor should evaluate those risks and make an informed decision.
How can the Hollis Law Firm help me?
We believe that no one should suffer due to the
carelessness and negligence of pharmaceutical and device manufactures who put
unsafe products on the market. We want to protect your rights. If you or a
loved one had Sprint Fidelis® devices
implanted in them please give us a call at (800) 701-3672. We want to make
Medtronic does not take advantage of you and rob you of your legal rights.
How much will this cost me?
Nothing. Plain and simple, if we do not win, you do not
pay. All of our work is done on what is called a “contingency fee”, which
means we get paid for winning cases. We believe this is better for both
parties, you do not have any out-of-pocket costs and we have more incentive to
win.
