What is Ortho Evra?

 Ortho Evra is the only birth control patch to reach the US market.  It was marketed as a more convenient alternative to birth control pills.  Users would switch the patch just once a week, instead of having to remember to take a pill every day.

Is the risk higher for Ortho Evra than a normal birth control pill?

 Yes, Ortho Evra contains 60% more estrogen than birth control pills.  The increased level of estrogen makes women more prone to clotting.  The manufacturer of Ortho Evra did not warn consumers about the fact that the patch contained 60% more estrogen than the pill until long after the patch was first put on the market in the US.
